God has a funny way of giving us exactly what we need. Oh and have I mentioned what a sense of humor He has? Ha! :)

Sick Baby...
Our sweet Nora is sick again. Just after finishing up one antibiotic she's onto another. This time she's also doing breathing treatments which she hates. We're all beat. So tired of being sick. Hopefully soon I'll have something happy to type about...not today.

Sometimes it rains on your parade...
you never know where life is going to lead you or who you will meet along the way. i have been incredibly fortunate to be blessed with amazing people to share my journey with. it seems that in every stage of my life God has given me just who I need to grow or get through whatever life has to throw at me.
i'm not gonna lie...sometimes things just suck but it's always nice to have someone to have life sucking with. :)
this is not intended to be a depressing post...just a post about bills and sick kids and car troubles.
I dedicate this post to you Dawn.

Just a few thoughts...
If you ask your 4 yr old if she likes the new color of your hair be prepared for her to say "uh, i like it a little but I don't like it a little too...I really don't like red."
Listen to your kids! Unless someone is bleeding hear them out before yelling...you never know what might have just happened.
Lay down the law before you get where you're going. Tell the kids what you expect of them before you get out of the car. That way they know what to expect when you get back in the car! Usually a simple look will remind them while out in public...I'm not saying this always works but sometimes it does!
Apparently 8 year olds just don't care if their zippers are down. I guess they just need to grow into caring.

All in a days work...
What a way to start the day... Wake up to a text saying that the ex is working and won't be picking up the kids. It's cool...I'll explain to them once again why they can't see you on a day they were supposed to spend with you. Got as much done as possible (ran errands, got my hairs did and made a quiche to have for dinner) then Patrick left for work. Tried to get NoNo down for a nap but did not succeed and of course Emma fell asleep a half hour before we had to leave to get Logans hair cut. My amazing father walked over and sat with Em while she slept. Got dinner in the oven and my Mother In law watched the kids while I went to bootcamp. It was a good way to round out my day. It was actually the best part. I really pushed myself tonight and it felt good to get some aggression out. Now Nora is asleep and the monsters are watching tv in Emmas room. Patrick will be home soon and I will drink Champagne. Tomorrow is another day and another adventure...

Really?!
Today I get a text while I'm at work from the exwife. She asks me if Emma has been complaining about her head or ears hurting. I say no she hasn't complained at all. She responds by telling me that Emma is crying and wants me. Ok...what am I suposed to do while I'm at work?! Can't you handle 5 hours with the child?! When I get out of work I call so that I can pick up the kids early and she says that Em is still sick and asking for me and she just doesn't understand why she needs me. Thanks. Maybe it's because you have such a warm and loving personality...geesh! She then backtracks and explains that she knows she wants me because she loves me and blah blah blah...please just stop while you're ahead! Now we're all home and together and happy...as we should be.

We set our goals high in the McNiff household!
This story is better told if I start a year or two back...There we sit, the kids, my parents and myself having a good ol' time at CC's pizza. The bus boy working at the time had downsyndrome. He was very nice and polite and apparently Emma thought he was doing a fantastic job. As we are packing up to leave, Emma stands up on the booth and announces to the entire restaurant, "I want to be just like that guy when I grow up!" How do you respond to that?
Today as the girls and I are grocery shopping, one of the men doing stock started talking to Emma. She proceeded to explain to him that when she grows up she is either going to work at Kroger like he does or become a ballalay girl (ballerina) with a sparkly tutu...The man patted her on the head and walked away shaking his own...
Kinda makes you wonder what will become of these little ones we're all trying so hard to make into amazing people...Only time will tell...

Day #1
Hello all...it is I Shay Louise, wife of Patrick (the Birthday Boy), Step Mother to Logan (8) and Emma (4 going on 17) and mother to Nora (soon to be a year). Everyday is an adventure. I hope to be able to take a moment each day and discuss my day with anyone who wishes to read about it. Things which do not seem funny in the moment often end up making us laugh til we cry. So here we go! Welcome to my blog!
